A Quiet Day, A Gentle Beginning

Dear Readers,

Today was one of those rare, peaceful days that move slowly and softly — a calm before whatever comes next. Yet even in the quiet, there was a spark of excitement to begin my morning. I received a call from the university I’ve been thinking about attending to finish my degree. They told me I have just four days to complete my application, and if all goes well, I’ll find out whether I’ve been accepted into the program.

It’s both thrilling and nerve-wracking. If things fall into place, I’ll finally be able to apply for financial aid and, within two years, graduate not with one but two bachelor’s degrees. It feels surreal to think about — how the paths we start long ago sometimes circle back when the timing is finally right.

The rest of the day was one of rest and recovery. I’m still healing from my recent (and very dramatic) run-in with strawberries — yes, the ER visit was as chaotic as it sounds. So today, I listened to my body and let it rest. I napped, drifted in and out of dreams, and spent the evening watching Game of Thrones while playing a little Minecraft on and off with my boyfriend.

Speaking of him — he’s wonderful. He just bought a new house and has been getting everything settled, though today the internet was giving him a bit of trouble. He doesn’t know it yet, but tomorrow he’ll be getting a little surprise from me: a set of cooling sheets and a cozy cooling blanket. It’s the small things, really — showing love in the quiet ways.

That’s all from me today, dear readers. I’m ending this day as it began — calm, grateful, and full of hope for what’s next.

With warmth,
Monique
