Dear Readers,
Today was, for the most part, a quiet and semi-peaceful day. I decided to take one more solid day to rest and recover from Monday — sometimes our bodies just ask for that little bit of extra grace, and I’m learning to listen.
However, peace has a funny way of being interrupted. My mother called earlier in the day asking if I could help her, even though I mentioned I was still in recovery mode. Her plan was simple (or so I thought): I would drive to her house, let her drive my car to her eye doctor appointment, and then bring her home afterward.
Well, that’s not quite how it worked out.
I arrived at her place ten minutes early, only to find out she was running ten minutes late. When she finally arrived, she drove like she was in a race — weaving through traffic while I was over there pressing the imaginary brake from the passenger seat! After she went into her appointment, I waited in the car, soaking in the warm autumn sunlight — a small pocket of peace amid the chaos.
When she came back out, she smiled and told me her eyes weren’t dilated after all, meaning she could drive herself. All that waiting, and it turned out to be unnecessary. Still, being my mom, she insisted on driving my car to pick up her dog and then back home — she’s never been much of a “passenger princess.”
Once my little adventure was over, I headed home, settled in, and watched a few episodes of Game of Thrones (my first time watching it!). A calm ending to a not-so-calm day.
With love,
Monique
